Over the years, I have worked with a few different resins, but none have been as easy to work with as Art Resin. First, and perhaps most importantly, It is non-toxic, has no VOCs, fumes, or solvents and is non-flammable and non-hazardous. However, I still urge everyone to wear a respirator mask when using any resin products. Secondly, it's clear and remains that way - other resins may produce a yellow cast over time. Lastly, it's easy to use and brightens color beautifully.
The kind people at Art Resin sent me a 32 oz kit to use. I worked on a new project - painting on tiles -making coasters and sold them all. Yay! Those unfamiliar with resin should know that there are 2 bottles - 1 containing resin, and 1 containing hardener. You combine in equal proportions, mixing well before using. For example, I'll mix 3 ounces of resin with 3 ounces of hardener to get 6 ounces of resin. Art resin has a really cool calculator tool to help figure out how much is needed for any given project. Once combined, there is about a 30 minute window to work until the resin begins its hardening phase.
Here are a few pictures along my coaster making process. Thanks Art Resin for this superior product! I really enjoyed working on the coasters, and plan to make additional ones later this year.
