What is the process for commissioning a painting?
Commissioning a painting is easy and transparent! Send an email letting me know of your interest.
Ideally, I like to meet at your place so I can better understand your personality, color scheme, and measurements. If I can't make a personal visit, I ask the client to send photos of the surrounding space where they plan to hang the painting. I may even ask for measurements ;) During this time we discuss canvas size, colors, pricing, and a timeline. Once I have the green light, I begin buying materials and conjuring up ideas. I keep you posted on the progress and deliver when finished!
How much does it cost to commission a painting?
As a rough estimate, I charge $1 per square inch. To figure out the square inch, take the length x width of a canvas. Example: 24 x 36 = 864.
How long does it take to paint a commissioned piece?
It usually takes 3 months from initial conversation to delivery; however, I try to work within your timeline and can produce one in as little as 4 weeks.
How do you ship the paintings?
If you are in Iceland, I will hand deliver. Shipping from Iceland isn't cheap, and of course depends on the size of the painting. I have worked with FedEx and can give you a quote on shipping. I have a second studio in Madison, Georgia and can paint there, making shipping larger pieces more affordable.
What size canvases are available?
Good question! There are a multitude of canvas sizes ranging from 5in. X 5in. to 4ft. x 5ft. Basically, any size you are looking for is available. This is something I can help you figure out if you are looking for something to fill a particular space.
Can I choose my own colors?
Absolutely! I love to get insight from clients - to know their story, and where they plan to hang the canvas. This gives me additional inspiration as I move forward with the painting.
Do you do portraits?
No, all of my work is abstract. I prefer to work from my imagination and not in confined lines. However, you can let me know of something that you like, for example: a particular landscape or destination, or a mood: lively, mellow, etc. and I will do my best to paint something with that in mind. I do love to work off of your story from my perspective.
